Just below Penang Hill, in the town of Air Itam (Black Water) is the fantastic Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple complex. For two hundred years it has been dominated by the seven story pagoda on the right. Now the faithful have built a huge bronze statue of Kwan Yin, the goddess of mercy. Behind her is a huge mausoleum. A roof above the statue is still under construction. INDEX
