Mono Basin and Hot Creek Area

Desert peach (Prunus andersonii) has pink flowers and tiny fruits that are mostly pit, but are good food for the wildlife. It is a clonal, deciduous, many branched shrub. The short lived above-ground stems are connected by an extensive network of rhizomes, and lignotubers occur at the base of most shrubs. Desert peach clones can be several acres in size. Shrubs are typically 3 to 7 feet tall.
