California Corn Lily (Veratrum californicum) are pollinated by bees, flies, butterflies and moths - even though the flowers are poisonous to insects! The dried and powdered root is used as an insecticide and a parasiticide. It is also effective against caterpillars and mammals so great caution is advised. Two of the six stamens of this flower have been pollinated already, and turned brown to notify the insects.
