Rock Creek Area

Red Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja miniata ssp. miniata) is common and widespread. The inflorescence is made up of bright red to pale orange or orange-tipped bracts. Between the bracts emerge the yellow-green, red-edged tubular flowers. The lance-shaped leaves are long, pointed, and coated in thin hairs. They grow in wet areas. The flower on the right seems to have some anthers protruding.
