Yosemite and Tioga Pass Area

The Rim Fire started in a remote canyon in Stanislaus National Forest just west of Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The fire started on August 17, 2013 and was the 3rd largest wildfire in California's history and burned 402.053 sq mi. The Rim Fire was fully contained after a 9-week firefighting battle. More than a year passed before it was declared out. Some logs smoldered on and on due to lack of rain. This is 1 of 3 galleries of photos that were taken on a trip in July, 2015 with the Milo Baker Chapter of the California Native Plant Society. The identifications on some of the plant photos are open to question. Please feel free to send IDs and corrections to info@jimndar.net.
