Yosemite and Tioga Pass Area

The Tall Swamp Onion (Allium validum) grows on an erect stem, There are 36 strap leaves more or less the length of the stem. There are 15-40 rose-red to white flowers atop the stem in a cluster. The stamens extend well above petals and the pollen is yellowish or purple. It grows in swampy meadows - and can be used as a moth repellant. The whole plant is said to repel insects and moles.
