Yosemite and Tioga Pass Area

Lake Tioga, a glacial lake on Tioga Road is just east of Tioga Pass (9,945'). It is also just outside of the east entrance station to Yosemite. Some of the wildlife in this area are brave enough to approach humans, especially birds and marmots. Occasionally a bobcat or bighorn sheep can be seen. Because of the altitude and location at the crest of a major pass, the weather is extremely unpredictable, and the length of the seasons varies from year to year. But the camping is less crowded.
